The Design Hornet identity needed both a strong logotype and a strong mark which could be used separately. This mark would need to be recognizable and hold its own as he would be using it separately from the type frequently. Jarrett wanted this logo and mark to be simple and clean, but still memorable and creative. He also wanted it to somehow incorporate the “hornet” concept, but without looking like a cheesy high school mascot logo.brandoncooper.com, Brandon Cooper, Freelance Designer; Indianapolis, Oct 2009

During my time with Main-1-Media, a local design firm, I developed several options for the “In God We Trust” Indiana license plate. One of these design options was chosen to be represented on millions of cars across the state of Indiana… Since the original design acceptance back in 2007, over 2 million cars now hit the roads every day with the “In God We Trust” license plate!

Creating this license plate was an exciting project and one that I will cherish for years to come!

Here is an excerpt from the Press Release put out by the Indiana House Republican Caucus…

(Statehouse) August 10, 2006—State Representative Woody Burton (R-Greenwood), along with Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Joel Silverman, today revealed the chosen design for the new “In God We Trust” license plate. The design features the Flag of the United States of America and the words “In God We Trust” on the left hand side.

“Seeing the ‘In God We Trust’ license plate come to life is a momentous occasion for everyone involved,” said Burton. “The symbolism portrayed by the American Flag displays our loyalty to the United States and the words of our founding fathers. It is my hope that thousands of Hoosiers will choose this plate and display it proudly.”

Main-1-Media, a local design firm, donated its design efforts to the state for the creation of the license plate. The firm designed a number of options for the license plate, featuring the Indiana State Flag, the American Flag, and the Indiana Statehouse. Four options were posted on the Internet, as part of an unscientific online focus group, in order to gain public opinion on the designs. The website drew more than 300,000 responses. Because of the high number of responses, Rep. Burton, Commissioner Silverman, and Main-1-Media felt confident in their design choice.

“We are pleased with the design of this plate and expect it to be very popular with our customers,” said Silverman.

House Enrolled Act 1013, authored by Rep. Burton and passed by the General Assembly in the 2006 legislative session, allows for the manufacture and purchase of state license plates featuring the words, “In God We Trust.” No additional fee will be enforced for purchase of the plate, as is the case with all other specialty license plates. It will be offered for all vehicle types, including cars, trucks, and SUVs.

The license plate will be available to the public on January 1, 2007 (at the time of the person’s plate registration renewal based upon the first letter of his/her last name).
